This dual purpose electronic meter tests soil pH and nutrient levels. Soil pH controls how well plants utilize the nutrients available in your soil. All plants have a particular pH preference, so it's important to know your soil levels.
The fertility portion of the tester measures the soils combined, Nitrogen, Phosphorous and Potash, (NPK). The tester uses a method coined as conduct metrics where a "AA" battery used to determine the actual value. This method provides higher accuracy as compared to non battery operated models.
